Debora Vrizzi was born in 1975 in Cividade del Friuli (UD), Italy. She currently lives in Rome. Vrizzi is a photographer, videoartist and director of photography.
After graduation in the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in the year 2000, she worked as fashion designer until 2003. At the same time, Vrizzi improved her personal artistic research focusing on cinema and visual art.
In 2007 she graduated at Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (CSC/SNC) in Rome (major: photography, Giuseppe Rotunno's class).
She worked as director of photography on the feature film "South is nothing", selected for the Official Competition at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. She also worked on several short movies and documentaries displayed in the Venice Film Festival, Locarno International Film Festival, Rome Film Festival and Berlinale.
She was awarded as best director of photography at Capalbio Cinema International in 2008 and Premio Kodak at International Arcipelago Festival of Rome in 2010.
As a visual artist Vrizzi is following two parallel lines: to use her own body as the main subject for her cinematographic art like real mise en scéne and, at the same time, to stress the ambiguity between reality and fiction.
