David Cheung is a Toronto & Beijing based multimedia artist whose artwork often deals with social and political issues while involving audiences, public and government officials as active participants.
He believes artists have the ability to make changes through using creative processes.
He has exhibited in Canada as well as Internationally at private galleries, art festivals and public museums.
In 2002, he founded ARTi-Smoking, a Canadian registered non-profit organization that uses creative methods and art to enhance youth and public awareness about the dangers of smoking and the magnitude of deaths caused by tobacco use.
Currently he is engaged in an on-going project entitled Rocky Railway High (Closure), an interactive art project for the symbolic return of the 5,000+ Chinese railway workers (about 1/3 of the Chinese workers employed) who perished during construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway between 1881-1885, to their homeland Guangdong, China (an important Chinese custom at the time).
